American Board of Family Medicine’s Commitment to Residency Education: Advancing Excellence
摘要
Program directors and faculty play a vital role in preparing the family physician workforce and shaping the future of residency programs. The American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) is committed to advancing the specialty of Family Medicine by supporting curricular and care delivery innovation to advance GME excellence and social accountability. To that end, the ABFM has outlined outcome-based board eligibility representing expectations for board-certified family physicians. Program directors work closely with the ABFM to ensure residents meet eligibility requirements for board certification and interact regularly via the ABFM Residency Training Management System. Engaging in residency improvement and residency learning networks is crucial for programs to achieve their missions, demonstrate social accountability and establish new training standards.
