This text explores three variations on the original figure of the “leap into nature” found in Jean Epstein’s Mauprat (1926): when the human being implements an aesthetic perception that immerses him in natural elements (Jonas Mekas, Chris Welsy, Ralph Steiner); when a body is itself immersed in a natural environment, giving rise to forms of entanglement (Zachary Epcar, Rose Lowder, Helena Gouveia Monteiro); and when the very processes of image production resemble a dive into the deep end, notably to reveal silver images through ecoprocessing (MTK workshop, Philip Hoffman, Karel Doing).
