Years ago, I was at a weeklong conference on philosophical and anthropological approaches to ontological turn and how it expanded academic understandings of human nature(s). I was in the midst of thinking about a new book, which would eventually come out as Geontologies: A Requiem to Late Liberalism, focused on the concept of geontopower. I was also finishing the final edits of the first film of the Karrabing Film Collective, When the Dogs Talked (2014). The film follows an extended family as they travel from their overcrowded government flat in Darwin, Australia to their ancestral lands along the coast hundreds of kilometres away.
