Lothar Baumgarten: Between Amazonian Myth and Animist Aesthetics
摘要
This paper analyzes Lothar Baumgarten's film The Origin of the Night (Amazonian Cosmos), which uses a Tupi myth about the creation of night to explore animist aesthetics. The film blends anthropological concepts, Indigenous cosmology, and Western thought, blurring boundaries between nature and culture. Baumgarten's approach, inspired by thinkers like Lévi-Strauss, challenges anthropocentrism and utilizes cinematic techniques to create an immersive experience of the forest as a central character. .
