摘要

Of late, digital communication tools are increasingly transforming and shaping the ways organisations communicate and organise their work. This transformation is acclaimed for its impact on efficiencies and enhanced productivity of organisations. To understand the effect of this transformation in organisations in northern Ghana, this chapter contextually explores effective organisational communication with the new digital communication form. Guided by the media richness and uses and gratification theories of communication and adopting the qualitative content analysis of 14 interviews, the study reveals purposive integration of conventional and emerged digital communication forms in ways that utilise the merits and minimise the demerits. Consequently, virtual working has become the norm and with efficient use of time through digital communication, enhancement of collaboration, improved engagement and accountability are achieved with stakeholders by organisations. Equally, engendering effective digital communication is enhanced by organisations putting in place well-developed strategies of digital communication usage, regular trainings on digital communication use, appropriate feedback mechanisms and compliance to rules of organisations on digital communication standards. No doubt, the significance and dependence on digital communication in organisations will be the ultimate as organisations will be able to accomplish all their communication needs. Therefore, organisations should swiftly transform along the new technologies including artificial intelligence (AI) to maximise the fullest benefit for organisational communication.
