Computer-Assisted Planning and Execution of Joint-Preserving Interventions Around the Hip

摘要

Computer-assisted surgery is particularly effective for complex, joint-preserving corrections of bone deformities. In preoperative planning, surgeons can utilize advanced diagnostic imaging and computer simulations to model each step of the surgery and evaluate its outcomes, considering anatomical, surgical, and biomechanical factors. During the operation, various intraoperative technologies, such as patient-specific instruments and optical navigation systems, ensure precise surgical execution according to the preoperative plan. This book chapter provides a conceptual overview of clinically established methods and technologies in computer-assisted surgery used for planning and executing hip surgeries. Emphasis is placed on patient-specific instrumentation, which has proven to be an effective tool for the accurate execution of complex osteotomies. The chapter concludes by discussing areas of application, advantages and disadvantages, and results from preclinical and clinical studies.
