What Is 6G

The question of “what is 6G” has not yet been clearly and consistently conceptualized. This chapter summarizes the industry’s predictions on 6G vision, application scenarios and performance indicators and gives an outlook on the potential key technologies of 6G. This chapter first introduces the basic rules of mobile communication development and the background of 6G research. Then, it introduces the vision, application scenarios, and industry forecasts of 6G performance indicators; next, it introduces the potential key technologies of 6G from the aspects of basic theories, wireless technologies, and network architectures; and finally, it introduces the progress of 6G standardization work.
