Historiography of Psychology
摘要
The historiography of psychology is a “discursive practice” that seeks to establish the limits and scope of the objectivity of the historian of the discipline. Over time, historians of psychology have used numerous forms and repertoires to address past and present events in their field. Since the founding of the first experimental psychology laboratory, some chroniclers have descriptively recounted attempts to define a new field of knowledge. Later, works appeared that were more conscious of their method and the scientific theory necessary to judge the originality of knowledge, as well as its progress, regression, etc. Instead of offering one approach over another, the historiography of psychology should promote skepticism toward all of them, given that they all have advantages and disadvantages. Psychology historians who use a sociological orientation have sought historical essences in empirical conditions but have quickly realized that their economy, social organization, and/or politics do not explain it.
