Lewin, Kurt
摘要
Kurt Lewin (1890–1947) is widely regarded as one of the foundational figures of twentieth-century psychology, yet his work is frequently reduced to a limited number of canonical concepts such as field theory, group dynamics, and action research. A closer examination reveals a unified project that joined theoretical innovation, methodological critique, and political engagement. Drawing on influences from phenomenology, Gestalt theory, Marxist social thought, and Neo-Kantian epistemology, Lewin reconceptualized psychological explanation around relations, forces, and the situational structure of action. His insistence that every individual case is lawful challenged statistical empiricism and transformed the meaning of generalization in psychology. Through his experiments on leadership, his development of action research, and his institutional initiatives at Iowa, MIT, and the Commission on Community Interrelations, Lewin framed social science as a vehicle for democratic empowerment and minority emancipation. His work continues to offer conceptual resources for theoretical and philosophical psychology today.
