Psychosomatics
摘要
Psychosomatics is an interdisciplinary field that studies phenomena where mental states play a role in the development of pathophysiological conditions, potentially resulting in full-fledged diseases. The concept has its roots in the works of various authors, including Johann Heinroth in the nineteenth century and Sigmund Freud in the early twentieth century. As it deals with the connection between mental and bodily domains, the mind-body problem plays a central role in its development. Most authors in this field reject dualist approaches and instead adopt a materialist perspective, acknowledging the complexity of the mind-body relationship and the limitations of reductionist approaches. The field has seen various approaches, including research into the functioning of the central nervous system, philosophical investigations, holistic descriptions, and psychoanalytic studies. Despite its historical significance, debates and challenges persist, including the lack of a precise definition, domain disputes, and the philosophical mind-body problem.
