Decision Support Systems and Decision Trees: An Overview
摘要
Decision Support Systems (DSS) are information systems that help το solve decision problems. Specifically, they are computer-based tools designed to assist individuals or organizations in making complex decisions. These systems utilize data, models, algorithms, and user interfaces to help users analyze information and evaluate possible outcomes in decision-making processes. They usually combine: (a) knowledge databases, (b) mathematical models of the problem to be solved, (c) algorithms/techniques for solving the model, and d) a dialog system with the user (software and user interface). To better understand the various forms of decision problems, each one of them demands the introduction of proper theoretical tools. Investigating decision support systems can involve various aspects, from understanding their conceptual framework to exploring their practical applications and impact. This paper tries to contribute to a better understanding of DSS because investigating DSS is crucial for improving decision-making processes, enhancing organizational efficiency, gaining competitive advantage, understanding technological advancement, addressing complex problems, and improving user experience.
