Identifying Factors Affecting Academic Achievement at Najran University Using Principal Component Analysis Technique (PCA)

The progressive expansion of educational institutions in Saudi Arabia strives to raise educational standards and better equip citizens for the future. The objective of this study is to review the factors that have a great influence on academic performance. The study conducted survey concerns opinion of faculty members in Najran University on the factors may affecting academic performance from their point of view in addition to simple survey for selected sample of student in final year in computer science and business administration departments. Course portfolio is also considered for analysis purpose in order to establish early warning indicators and improve weaknesses; principal component analysis is used to analyze collected data in addition to statistical analysis. The experimental results indicate that, with a Wight of 0.999, the course’s knowledge percentage has the biggest impact on students’ academic success. in addition to additional elements like the use of assistive technology and lecturer qualification level also may effect.
