摘要

Japanese citizens residing in North America tend to locate in large commercial and educational centers. Education is highly valued; the literacy rate in Japan is nearly 100%. About 56% of all young people go on to higher education. The alumni network primarily provides job placements; the school one attends determines, to a great extent, where one is employed after graduation. Acculturation, individuality, and the variant characteristics of culture determine the degree of traditionality of Japanese in the United States and elsewhere. Therefore, this profile will not fit all Japanese.
