This chapter delved into the migration patterns of Kayayee (Head porters) from the Northern parts of Ghana to the Southern part, with a specific focus on Madina in the La Nkwantanang- Madina Municipality (LaNMM) of Greater Accra. The study chose the Madina market because of the high influx of Kayayee into the market. The study examined the emergence of ‘Kaya’ and its influence on the migration of Kayayee, using the ‘Push and Pull’ theory of migration by (Lee, A Theory of Migration. Demography 3:47–57, 1966) as the theoretical base. Qualitative research methods such as in-depth interviews and focus group discussions were utilized for the study. The chapter shed light on the significance of Kayayee, their modus operandi, and the challenges they face. Finally, the chapter outlined findings and suggested policy recommendations to address this social challenge.
