Preliminary Design and Simulation of a Return Current Collector for an Innovative Trambus System

摘要

In this work authors propose an innovative return current collector for Trambus public transportation systems. Trambus is a hybrid transportation system that conjugate mixed features of trolleybus and tramway systems: Trambus like a trolley bus is road vehicle with rubber tire, but like a tramway is fed by an unipolar DC catenary. Return current is transmitted through a fixed ground conductor, a rail fixed to ground. This technology is mostly proposed to provide a dynamic fast recharge a road vehicle using a standard DC catenary that can be shared with pre-existing tramway infrastructures. In this work authors propose an innovative current collector that also implement sensing and guidance functionalities to automate or assist the guidance of the vehicle during the dynamic recharge under electrified sections.
