摘要

Participation in competitive sports offers children valuable benefits, such as physical fitness and the opportunity to work with teammates to overcome challenges as a collective group. However, excessive involvement in sports among skeletally immature young athletes generates potential risks of both acute and chronic injuries to the developing skeleton. This chapter will overview the common trends observed in epiphyseal and apophyseal stress injuries occurring in the hip and pelvis regions of young athletes. By exploring these patterns, we aim to shed light on the prevalence and nature of these injuries, their contributing factors, and potential preventive measures. Understanding these aspects can empower coaches, parents, and health care professionals to implement strategies aimed at reducing the incidence of such injuries, treating them when they occur, and promoting the long-term well-being and athletic success of young athletes.
