摘要

The Business Process Management (BPM) community has developed numerous techniques for business process redesign. Business Process Design Space (BPD-Space) offers a method that assists organizations in systematically exploring the design space of processes. This paper presents the result of experiments using the BPD-Space to teach explorative business process redesign. Three free experiments involving students with different backgrounds were conducted. A case study of the Surabaya City Office for Population Administration and Civil Registry (COPACR), which provides population registration and civil registration services, serves as a practical example for the participants to apply the BPD-Space. Results show that participants can apply BPD-Space to generate redesign ideas that vary in number, diversity, and innovativeness. Students with more experience and domain knowledge come up with more creative redesign ideas.
