Drones: A Visual, Vertical, and Virtual Genealogy
摘要
In recounting the history of the droneDrone, I will endeavor not to be definitive about where it all began. That is to say, I am not seeking here an “origin” or a definitive, divine, mythical, or privileged position (Said, E. W. in Beginnings: Intention and method. Columbia University Press, 1985) on how and when the droneDrone emerged. It is worth noting that the droneDrone as an artifact is the result of socio-technical fruition that, for centuries, has informed protean ways of waging war and updating violenceViolence from a distance.
