Development of Durable Self-compacting Concrete Incorporating with Mineral Admixtures and Steelslag

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of steel slag and mineral admixtures on the durability of self-compacted concrete (SCC). SCC is a fluid concrete that can be used for applications that are both dynamic and static. In this work, a variety of SCC combinations with varying proportions of silica fume and steel slag were developed as partial substitutes for standard cement and fine aggregates. The mixes were meticulously manufactured in order to keep the appropriate flexibility, and their mechanical characteristics and durability were assessed. Furthermore, the utilization of steel slag is expected to aid in sustainable construction by reducing carbon footprint. This research looks into the viability of using silica fume and steel slag as supplementary materials in the development of more durable and sustainable self-compacting concrete, with the aim of offering useful information for the construction sector while solving both environmental and performance worries, while contributing to ongoing attempts to optimize SCC mix designs for enhanced durability.
