Mitigating Organizational Withdrawal—The Role of Compensation Packages on Employee Retention in the Construction Sector
摘要
The Indian construction industry, a rapidly growing and competitive sector, requires the retention of highly skilled employees for the timely and efficient completion of projects. The effect of remuneration packages on employee retention is examined in this study, with a focus on salary, fringe benefits, career growth opportunities, working environment, and work-family balance. The research underscores the importance of all-encompassing remuneration packages in maintaining staff retention and reducing organizational attrition. A survey was conducted among 171 construction professionals working in private construction firms in Tamil Nadu, India, using a quantitative approach. The findings from the data analysis revealed a significant and favourable association between comprehensive compensation packages and staff retention. The results imply that in addition to monetary pay, employees also value non-cash perks including professional growth opportunities, flexible scheduling, and a positive work atmosphere. The study provides practical recommendations for HR professionals. These include designing competitive and diverse compensation packages, implementing career development programs, fostering a positive work culture that promotes work-life balance, and encouraging open communication to address employee concerns. By effectively implementing these strategies, construction companies can create a more engaging and rewarding work environment, leading to improved employee retention and overall organizational success.
