Aerodynamic Modification of the Duct-Type Opening Inside the Tall Building Models for Harvesting the Wind Energy

This study considered a regular square-shaped tall building model of length = 100 mm, breadth = 100 mm, and height = 400 mm (1:1:4). The regular shape square footprint model is considered as M1. Similar four different 1:1:4 models are adopted with a duct-type horizontal opening near the top region of the models. The openings are considered circular, hexagonal, square, and plus-shape types. The attacking wind is designed parallel to the x-axis. The wind velocity inside the opening increases due to the Venturi effect. Accordingly, the wind turbine can be implemented inside the opening to harvest the wind energy for the green building. The present study compared the variation of wind velocity and pressure variation inside the different types of opening models. Variations of drag, lift, and moment coefficient were compared for the considered wind angle. In this study, the researchers make an overview of the different geometrical ducts to make the green building.
