摘要

Titanium alloys have proved to be an interesting material as ballistic protections. In this paper, a numerical investigation on the behavior of a Ti-6Al-4V alloy under different ballistic tests is made. We investigates the effects of target thickness, projectile nose shapes and strike velocities for an orthogonal perforation on the projectile velocity and its residual one. Johnson-Cook constitutive law and its associated damage model are used to model the titanium response under different impact conditions. The numerical results show the thickness limit and the minimum strike velocity to guarantee the non-perforation of the target.
