A Miniaturized Patch Antenna for IOT, WLAN and WIMAX Applications

摘要

This work presents a miniaturized rectangular patch antenna operating at two bands, the inferior band is from 1.79 GHz to 1.99 GHz and the superior band is from 2.35 GHz to 4.59 GHz. Two miniaturization techniques were applied on 3.62 GHz conventional patch antenna to achieve the proposed compact antenna: First, by ground plane modification and second, by using a double negative metamaterial unit cell printed on the Epoxy FR-4 substrate, which has a permittivity equal to 4.4 and loss tangent of 0.025. Those two techniques shifted back the initial operating frequency from 3.62 to 1.94 GHz. The material used to design the patch and the ground plane is the copper annulled and the simulation was done by CST solver. The proposed antenna is suitable for IOT, WLAN, WIMAX applications.
