Electromagnetic Modeling in ‘Black Box’ Mode of a DC-DC Power Converter (BUCK)

This paper presents an innovative electromagnetic modeling method based on the “black box” concept, applied to a BUCK type DC-DC power converter. Emphasizing the crucial importance of this electronic power converter in more complex electrical systems as a major source of electromagnetic interference, it is depicted through a combination of electromagnetic disturbance sources and impedances. This approach allows for an accurate reproduction of its conducted emissions characteristics. The uniqueness of the presented modeling method lies in its fast computation, facilitating an efficient and optimized design of an EMC filter. Furthermore, it provides the opportunity to explore the interaction between multiple converters connected to the same electrical network. This methodology positions itself as a tool for in-depth and rapid analysis of electromagnetic aspects, enabling informed decisions during the design and optimization of electrical systems.
