Design of a Dual UWB Notched Band Patch Antenna for Wireless Communication and Medical Applications

The antenna proposed is a dual ultra-wideband antenna with a notched band. is fed by a coplanar waveguide. It is constructed on a loss-free FR-4 substrate, featuring a relative permittivity of 4.4 and a thickness of 1.61 mm. The patch is made from annealed copper, featuring a low tangent loss factor of 0.0035. The simulated impedance bandwidth ranges from 2.79 GHz to 13.2 GHz, with a rejection band from 5.69 GHz to 8 GHz. Significantly, it covers the entire UWB frequency range from 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz, as specified by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the United States. The compact dimensions of the patch antenna are 26 × 27 × 1.61 mm. The results were obtained using CST (high-frequency structural simulator) software.
