Digital Technologies in Manufacturing Companies: Uses and Challenges

This research paper examines digital technology's uses, benefits, challenges, and drawbacks in manufacturing. The study analyses and synthesizes field research using a comprehensive literature review. The research begins by identifying digital technology uses and applications in manufacturing and the challenges firms confront in adopting and integrating them. To find relevant research publications, scholarly databases were searched. Key themes and conclusions from the selected research were evaluated and classified. The survey found that manufacturers use digital technology substantially. They championed the circular economy, service transformation, innovative business models, and customer interactions. Digital technology adoption has several challenges and drawbacks, including high initial investment costs, integration and compatibility difficulties, cybersecurity and data privacy concerns, organizational opposition, and the need for constant staff training. The research implications emphasize this study's theoretical contributions, which expand our knowledge of digital technology in manufacturing. The findings illuminate the sector's digital transformation benefits and drawbacks, laying the groundwork for future research. The paper gives industrial firms practical advice. It suggests ways to use digital technology and overcome obstacles. Practical consequences include leadership commitment, change management, staff training, and data protection. This paper's consideration of digital technology's benefits and drawbacks in manufacturing is valuable. Moreover, it contributes that in the present times adoption of digital technologies can play a sufficiently great role in improving the business if the challenges are overcomes.
