In the present lesson, as well as in the following one, crucial theoretical issues are introduced. Unlike the rest of the book, the structure of these two lessons follows a more traditional scheme in the presentation of contents. This is because topics proposed here are intended to provide tools required for most of the applications presented in the following lessons, rather than be themselves a target issue.
