摘要

Psychodermatology is a fascinating crossover science between psychiatry and dermatology. It encompasses both primary psychiatric disorders that also have dermatologic manifestations and primary dermatologic disorders that also present with psychiatric disorders. Several studies are ongoing to better understand the pathophysiology of these disorders, but it is now known that stress plays an important role in their development and exacerbation. Indeed, chronic stress leads to dysregulation of the immune system with corresponding effects at both the central nervous system and skin levels, which can lead to the appearance of both dermatologic and psychiatric signs and symptoms. This chapter reviews the history of psychodermatology, its current subspecialties, pathophysiology, diagnostic procedures, and treatment. The future direction of psychodermatology aims to expand knowledge in the field, promote training programs for health professionals, and establish guidelines for appropriate diagnosis and treatment in order to improve patient care and enhance their quality of life.
