Derivation of the Effective Refractive Index of Interacting Doped Nanoparticles

Nanophotonics is a rapidly developing field of optics attracting ever-increasing attention nowadays. One of the perspective problems is to consider doped nanoparticles with different types of dopants, e.g. metallic nanoparticles, atoms of different metals and quantum dots. This paper is to investigate the effective refractive index of such particles forming dimers with taking into account all the interactions within the system: internal - between impurity atoms and external – between the nanoparticles in a dimer. We derive analytical expressions based on integro-differential equations for effective refractive indices of such a system. #CSOC1120.
