Idea Generation and CLBDM

This chapter explores how a creativity-enhancing framework called CLBDM, which stands for Creative Loop–Based Decision Making, can generate creative ideas and innovative solutions for problems in different domains and contexts. The chapter focuses on the second step of CLBDM, idea generation, and shows how systems thinking can help generate creative ideas by using tools such as causal loop diagrams (CLDs), analogies, and lateral thinking. The chapter uses three examples of applying CLBDM and systems thinking to real-world cases: one from the domain of water supply and usage in rural communities in India, another from the domain of sustainability in various sectors and industries, and the third one from the education domain. The chapter demonstrates how CLBDM can help to challenge assumptions and find unconventional or unexpected ways to solve problems or create opportunities. The chapter concludes by encouraging the readers to use CLBDM as a powerful tool for generating creative ideas that can address the complex challenges and opportunities that we face in our world today.
