Exploring Empathic Engagements: Resources for Educators and Students
摘要
This chapter is envisioned as a bridge between the voices of scholars and specialists encountered in the preceding essays and readers, especially students, who may be new (or newer) to the study of empathy and/or the visual arts. Aimed at educators and students, it presents a selection of reflection questions and prompts for discussion, a sample close looking exercise, alternative essay groupings for exploring thematic strands that run across multiple essays, and a short list of readings and resources for teaching and learning about empathy through visual art. The variety and accessibility of these resources, it is hoped, will offer a helpful starting point for engaging with the new research on empathy, art history, and artistic practice encountered in the volume’s essays and will support utilization of these essays in educational contexts.
