The Miraculous Cross and Crucifix in Textual Sources
摘要
Several preserved written sources testify to the understood power and potential of the cross. The relevant textual sources in this context are amulets, poems, prayers, liturgical texts, and legends of origin, as well as miracle stories connected to the crucifixes in Fana and Røldal. This chapter examines whether the written sources can tell us something about the relationship between the immaterial prototype and the objects the practitioners would have before them: the large three-dimensional miraculous cross and crucifix.
