Integration of AI for Intelligent Monitoring of Wastewater Treatment Plants

In the water purification sector, the application of artificial intelligence has become essential to fulfill the essential objectives, for maintaining water quality and reduction of operational costs. Quality parameters in treatment plants play a crucial role in water monitoring. Although some of these parameters can be measured continuously using affordable physical sensors, software sensors are proving to be an effective and cost-effective approach to solving these problems. Our research is part of solutions aimed at solving problems of national and international strategic importance using advanced technologies, in particular artificial intelligence. In this context, our contribution focuses on the study of intelligent sensors used for monitoring, control and management of treatment plants. These algorithmic sensors, based on AI techniques, represent an attractive solution to overcome the lack of specific sensors and are increasingly sought after.
