Enabling Smart Agriculture Through Integrating the Internet of Things in Microalgae Farming for Sustainability
摘要
Agricultural losses are caused by the challenges of severe climatic conditions and high levels of disease and pest infestation. The challenges in agriculture can be effectively addressed through extensive applications of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence technologies across the value chain of agriculture, from the farm to the consumer. This includes the integration of satellite and drone technologies in the field of Remote Sensing. Farms that grow crops, manage aquaculture, and raise livestock are adopting IoT and AI technologies. But growing microalgae, which demands careful monitoring, control, as well as prediction of biomass growth, has not yet been fully integrated with IoT and AI technologies due to its early stage of development. Therefore, this incorporation of IoT and AI in microalgae cultivation is estimated that make a meaningful contribution to the growth of the current microalgal industry worldwide. The purpose of this article is to give an idea of the state of microalgae biomass and its Inclusion with IoT for the future of intelligent agriculture. In addressing the transition from traditional to microalgae-smart agriculture, the article outlines the stages involved in implementing microalgae-smart agriculture.
