Introduction

In the introduction, I retrace the stages of my interest in the socio-anthropological study of the body from my participation in a sociological survey on clandestine prostitution in Tunisia to the latest survey carried out on verbal violence in couples, which calls into question norms of masculinity and femininity. Throughout the book, I approach the body as a medium for ongoing individuation and as a symbol of the socio-cultural changes taking place in Tunisia.
