Surgery of the Maxillary Sinus
摘要
The maxillary sinus is prone to inflammation due to its dependent position, which may impede mucociliary clearance. The surgical approaches to the maxillary sinus vary from minimally invasive to extensive resections, tailored to nature and extent of the pathology. This customization aims to enhance visibility and control of the affected part of the maxillary sinus for better surgical outcomes. Recent advancements in surgical techniques and instruments have made functional middle meatal antrostomy the preferred endoscopic method. This technique improves ventilation and facilitate access to manage the pathologies within the maxillary sinus.
