Fungal Sinusitis

Fungi are present normally in our breathed air, thus they can be found in the mucous of every healthy and diseased nasal sinus. Not the fungi itself but the host immunity is the factor determining whether the fungi become a pathogen developing the pathological process or not. Based on that, the state of the host immunity is used in the classification of patients with fungal rhinosinusitis dividing them into the immune-competent group and immune-deficient group.
