More Fallacies

The way data is aggregated can lead to disturbingly different interpretations that can appear to be paradoxical. I will discuss two such in this section. The first is known as Simpson’s paradox which has already come up in our previous discussion of “hot hands” in basketball (see, in this connection, reference [16]). Simpson, by the way, is the same Simpson that makes an appearance later when we discuss code-breaking at Bletchley Park during the Second World War.
