Headtracking Functions of IntelligentBox for Dental Treatment Training System
摘要
This paper treats headtracking functions of IntelligentBox that is a component-based desktop 3D application development system. The authors have already proposed a dental treatment training system developed using IntelligentBox that supports a haptic device Phantom as its input device. This dental treatment training system is a desktop application so that a trainee has to use a mouse device for changing his/her view direction. Usually, a trainee uses his/her dominant hand to operate Phantom device in the training system. Therefore, he/she has to change the target of his/her dominant hand from Phantom device into a mouse device when changing his/her view direction. This is a problem that interferes with the smooth training. To solve this problem, the authors tried to introduce two types of headtracking functions into IntelligentBox as its primitive components, i.e., face recognition-based headtracking function and AR marker-based headtracking function. The authors evaluated their availabilities by asking several subjects to use them in the dental treatment training system. This paper reports their evaluation results.
