Knowledge Graphs Application to Life Science

  • Alessia Sabia

摘要

Knowledge Graphs find their application in various domains like Information Retrieval, Social Network and Medicine. Specifically a Knowledge Graph is defined as a graph structure containing entities as nodes and relations as edges. Knowledge Graphs are built starting from databases and literature, in particular we can distinguish between manual and automatic approaches to Knowledge Graphs construction. When applied to a particular domain, as in this case Life Sciences, we talk about domain specific Knowledge Graphs. The purpose of this paper is to survey the application of Knowledge Graphs to Life Sciences including Bioinformatics, Medicine and Chemistry. As we will illustrate, Knowledge Graphs are able to capture high level information that lead to a better feature representation, consequently model performances based on Knowledge Graphs outperforms other models.
