摘要

Obesity has become an epidemic worldwide, necessitating effective and safe minimally invasive interventions. One such option is the primary obesity surgical endoluminal (POSE) procedure, an endoscopic bariatric and metabolic therapy (EBMT) associated with a 15–20% total body weight loss. The procedure may be performed for individuals with class I–III obesity and aims to limit the functional capacity of the stomach, reduce hunger and promote satiety, in order to decrease weight and improve obesity-associated comorbid conditions. Overall, the POSE procedure has the promise to fill a large void between the treatment options of diet and exercise and invasive bariatric surgery. POSE provides a safe, efficacious, and cost-effective option in the treatment of obesity.
