Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty
摘要
Obesity is among the most pervasive and consequential health issues worldwide. Until recently, therapies for obesity included lifestyle modification, pharmacotherapy, and bariatric surgery; however, the recent emergence of various endoscopic bariatric and metabolic therapies (EBMTs) has transformed the paradigm of obesity management while addressing current treatment gaps. In particular, endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG) appears to be one of the most durable and effective at achieving weight loss. Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty is a minimally invasive, incisionless, endoscopic procedure that utilizes full-thickness endoscopic sutures to reduce the gastric volume through the creation of a tubular or sleeve-shaped gastric cavity, akin to the surgical approach of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty offers a safe and durable treatment option for many individuals suffering from obesity, particularly those with a BMI between 30 and 40 kg/m2.
