Analyzing and Designing Sociodigital Sovereignty on Individual and Organizational Levels—A Case Study
摘要
Rapidly evolving digital transformation processes, emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence systems, and constantly changing market conditions have a significant impact both on employees at the individual level in the workplace and on companies at the organizational level. The preservation, protection, and further development of knowledge and intellectual property for both individuals and organizations are becoming increasingly important to enable self-determined interaction—meaning sovereignty—in the market. However, a key question is often how such digital transformation processes can be successfully managed for both entities in their daily business. This article introduces the concept of Sociodigital Sovereignty as two pillars—the individual and the organizational level—and presents classification matrices as tools for industrial application. These tools can be used to analyze and design transformation process and improve Sociodigital Sovereignty at the workplace and enterprise levels. The industrial use case presented focuses on a software launch. In a three-part workshop with company employees, the situation was analyzed at the individual workplace level—first without the new software and then with it—using the respective classification matrix. After prioritizing key challenges and proposed solutions, the third part of the workshop used the classification matrix on the organizational level to structure the developed recommedations for action. To summarize, the results show the strong connections between individual and organizational levels and confirm the applicability of the concept of Sociodigital Sovereignty as a tool for sociotechnical analysis and design.
