Data-based techniques offer new possibilities for problem-solving but also bring new demands on operational IT architectures as well as competences and procedures. The article addresses future challenges of data-based problem-solving and highlights new roles and competence profiles in the context of changing IT and organizational structures by highlighting experiences from electronics manufacturing.
