Design of Dual-Band Funnel-Shaped Microstrip Patch Antenna with Excitation Arms for 3–30-GHz RFID Application

A novel ultra-wideband (UWB) funnel-shaped antenna configurations have been revealed in this work. In comparison with standard UWB antennas, their frequency band is expanded to include not only the 3–10-GHz span but also the 22–29-GHz band. Antenna measurements, features, and performance are described for potential use in UWB transmission systems, vehicles, radars, and forthcoming wireless communication services. Initially, the antenna’s structure was planned as a single funnel structure, but additional bud-shaped components were later added to observe how they performed. Maximum results were achieved at 6 GHz and 29 GHz. The reflection coefficients obtained at 7 GHz and 29 GHz were −21 dB and −23.5 dB, respectively. This antenna is suitable for ultrahigh frequency applications.
