摘要

Purpose of Review: The plant species Cassia auriculata belongs to the Fabaceae family and is well noticed for its wide range of therapeutic applications. The present attempt is to review and compile the rarely studied pharmacological activities of Cassia auriculata. Research Findings: Recently, the study of plant-derived compounds for therapeutic purposes as phytopharmacology has gained increasing interest in modern medicine. Extraction and fractionation of this medicinal plant emphasized the presence of diverse bioactive phytocompounds, which exhibited several pharmacological activities. The diverse bioactive phytocompounds include carbohydrates, phenolic compounds, essential oils, alkaloids, steroids, glycosides, phenols, tannins, saponins, terpenoids, triterpenes, proteins, amino acids, flavonoids, unsaturated fatty acids, anthraquinone glycosides, and leucoanthocyanins. Former studies demonstrated that C. auriculata possesses antibacterial, antidiabetic, anthelmintic, antioxidant, wound healing, anti-cerative, antimicrobial, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, hepatoprotective, anti-hyperlipidaemic, immunomodulatory, antiulcer, nephroprotective activity, and broncho relaxant activities. Summary: Further separation and characterization of active phytoconstituent investigations can provide a valuable lead as a prevailing alternative prime in the drug discovery process and make consciousness about the therapeutic prominence of this medical plant.
