Effect of Fiber Length on the Mechanical Properties of Unsaturated Polyester Composites Enhanced by Chemically Modified Borassus Stalk Leaf Fiber

In this detailed study, four different fiber lengths (20, 30, 40, and 50 mm) of Borassus stalk leaf fibers were manually stacked into an unsaturated polyester resin matrix to create a composite material. They conducted detailed evaluations of mechanical properties while closely adhering to ASTM guidelines in their experimental methods. The outcomes unequivocally demonstrated a significant correlation between increased mechanical performance, such as tensile, flexural and impact strengths, and fiber length. Notably, composites with 50 mm fibers consistently performed better than others on all metrics, highlighting the critical influence of fiber length on these characteristics. These results highlight the significance of choosing the appropriate fiber length and offer insightful information for optimizing composite designs for certain applications.
