Low-Cost Solar Still with Natural Storage Materials: An Experimental Investigation
摘要
Water is an essential commodity for humankind. In recent era, clean and freshwater demand rises in day-to-day life. Surge in habitants and continuous establishments of industrial in addition to agricultural area in the preceding times causes the overwhelming growth in freshwater supply. Solar distillation is seen as potential viable contributor towards freshwater production. The major shortcomings of passive solar still is its inferior performance output. Therefore, enhancing the productivity and thermal efficiency with sensible storage media is the foremost objective. In this endeavour, a novel low cost solar still with storage materials such as pebbles, basalt rock and black sand is designed and developed. Solar still with pebble, basalt rock and black sand as a storage media improves the overall productivity by 28.0%, 19.6% and 10.4% respectively.
