This chapter explores the emerging evidence implicating oxidative stress in the onset and progression of various diseases, such as cancer and type 2 diabetes (T2D). With numerous clinical trials underway, investigating the efficacy of antioxidant therapies in managing these conditions, there is growing recognition of the potential therapeutic benefits of targeting redox processes. The discussion encompasses a wide array of treatment modalities, including medications that intervene at critical enzymatic pathways, mitigate reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation, and scavenge free radicals (FR). Literature findings highlight the utilization of diverse interventions within this context. Thioredoxin reductase inhibitors, glutathione modulators, and hypoxia-inducible factor inhibitors represent promising avenues in combating oxidative stress-related diseases. Additionally, the role of dietary antioxidants, vitamins, and extracts from various plants has been explored, shedding light on their potential as adjunctive or primary treatments. Through an extensive review of current research and clinical endeavors, this chapter offers valuable insights into the evolving landscape of antioxidant therapy for cancer and T2D, underscoring the importance of redox modulation in disease management and prevention.
