Development of an Academic Environment Model

An environment is a total of the surroundings of a living organism, including forces and other things which provide conditions for development and growth as well as for danger or damage. An academic environment is where a student, a lecturer, and a module exist, the primary objective of which is to provide effective teaching and learning. A well-defined model brings about a platform or framework that facilitates the optimal use and distribution of resources and management of assets. It also provides the prior knowledge required to make positive adjustments and reorganise the institutional process, structure, and infrastructure. Where there are gaps in the system, they can be identified. This paper has investigated literature to establish the existence of models and systems that address challenges faced by the academic sector. It also became apparent that little work has been done to develop a model or framework that clearly defines the relationship between the students, the lecturers, and the academic programmes (modules) that institutions offer. Statistical methods are used to interpret, analyse, and evaluate the system. Finally, results and findings are presented and interpreted. So, the framework that can be used in modelling an academic environment is presented in this paper. This framework brings simplicity, synergy, and a relationship and connection between the module, the student, and the lecturer.
